Miss Asha Smith
Welcome to second grade! I am so excited to be your child’s teacher. I can not wait to see how much they will grow and learn this year. Before I started at Sunrise, I previously worked in Bahrain. A small island in the Middle East. I taught first grade there for 3 years and finished my last year there teaching Math and Science in 3rd grade. I am originally from Atlanta, Georgia. This is where my education career began. I taught first grade for 2 years. I graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. I am currently working on my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Grand Canyon University.
"Education is a powerful weapon which you can choose to change the world." - Nelson Mandela. I believe that education is key and can change a child's future. As your child's educator for the year my purpose is to not only teach the curriculum but life skills which can be powerful in changing the world. Our classroom is a community where we build each other up and create a safe space for trying new things.
Thank you for entrusting me with your student's. I believe we will make great connections this year. I also believe we will make even greater strides in being better learners, students and people not only at Sunrise but in the world.
