Mrs. Sylvia Barbosa

Hello!  I am one of the two 4th grade teachers here at Sunrise Elementary.  I began my career in the medical field as a Respiratory Therapist and then went into Health Care Administration and Health Care Education.   When I was able to, I stayed at home with my kids. I home schooled them for several years and then began substituting in their regular schools.  Finally, I decided that I loved educating elementary students more than the medical field and here I am!  

I primarily connect with parents via DOJO for messages etc.  I try to be respectful and direct and open.  I welcome parent participation and look forward to an excellent year!

This will be part of every day's lesson.

I also will be working on the idea of being a detective - I LOVE the game of Clue!   I have multiple games to use in the class to help each student practice deductive reasoning - Take what you know and build on that knowledge to figure things out!  

The class should have time to do the majority of work in class if they focus well.  

A parent communication folder will be going home daily.  I will add specifics related to the folder as I develop the exact plan
